I don't think that I actually even posted saying that I had won an International Art Doll Registry End Of Year Awards as I have been so busy I haven't had time to post recently, but I won the Advanced Level Overall Best In Show (joint first place with the amazing Amanda Haney), and my award has arrived!

<![CDATA[Bindweed Bakery!]]>Wed, 22 Jan 2014 18:08:00 GMThttp://www.bindweedstudio.com/works-in-progress/bindweed-bakeryIts a long , long time since I have posted anything, but I have a good excuse... I've taken a break from polymer clay for a while and have been teaching myself to sculpt in cake! I've always loved baking, and when I recently stumbled upon the wonderful world of sculpted cakes I just had to try it since it. And since it combined two of my favourite things its probably not suprising that I got hooked!

Anyway, to cut a long story short I have just literally set up a home bakery business called Bindweed Bakery.

I will be back to sculpting in polymer clay soon, but in the meantime here is a picture of the cake I recently made my youngest son for his birthday - its lemon maderia cake, drizzled with limoncello syrup, covered and filled with lemon buttercream and then covered in fondant.

However, I'm incredibly pleased and proud to announce that I won the advanced category of the International Art Doll Registry September Show - Twisted Fairy Tales with my entry Little Red Riding Hood and the Wolf! Congratulations to Sam Wulfehunter and his amazing entry Momi Granie And Goblin Kutu which won the novice category :)

<![CDATA[Little Red Riding Hood ]]>Tue, 01 Oct 2013 14:01:56 GMThttp://www.bindweedstudio.com/works-in-progress/little-red-riding-hoodIts been ages again since I've updated my blog again, and what with spending most of the summer holidays entertaining the kids I've got hardly any sculpting done for what feels like an eternity - but I've finally finished my latest piece, which happens to be my entry for the International Art Doll Registry September Show - the theme is 'Twisted Fairy Tales'. I really enjoyed making this piece - the wolf was great fun to make, as were grannies glasses and the basket of food. To see all the work in progress pictures click here. Yet again I didn't have time to upload work in progress pictures during his creation, but you can see them by clicking here. Click on the photo below to see more shots of the finished piece :)

<![CDATA[Blood Sucker - Work In Progress]]>Thu, 25 Jul 2013 13:22:41 GMThttp://www.bindweedstudio.com/works-in-progress/blood-sucker-work-in-progressThis is a piece that I started a while back and didn't have time to upload any work in progress shots as I was making her. She is pretty much finished now - I just need to do her boot laces and then make a base for her. I really enjoyed making this one, especially her corset, biker boots and her victims blood stained converse trainer :)

<![CDATA[Daddy's Little Princess - Finished :)]]>Wed, 29 May 2013 14:27:38 GMThttp://www.bindweedstudio.com/works-in-progress/daddys-little-princess-finishedYay, she is finally done!
Oddly, everytime I look at her I have an almost overwhelming desire to punch her! I think its that bratty 'what are you going to do about it?' attitude. Maybe I better get her listed for sale soon incase the urge overpowers me....

<![CDATA[Daddy's Little Princess - WIP]]>Thu, 23 May 2013 20:19:07 GMThttp://www.bindweedstudio.com/works-in-progress/daddys-little-princess-wipThis, as long as I finish her in time, will be my entry for the International Art Doll Registry May Show - entitled 'Cultural Princess'. The theme is supposed to be based on Princesses from around the world, but I thought I would make something a little different - there seems to me to be a bit of a 'Princess Culture' going on nowadays, lots of spoilt, little and not so little madams waltzing around with their fake tan, hair extensions and little handbag dogs... so I thought I would make 'Daddy's Little Princess!'
