I've started work on a new male fairy - his name is Thorn and he is a bramble/blackberry fairy. So far I'm really pleased with how he's coming along.

Well, due to family circumstances its taken me alot longer than intended to update my blog again.
I didn't win any of the International Art Doll Registry end of year awards that I had been nominated for, but I'm still really happy about being nominated in the first place - congratulations to all the winners and all the other noiminees too! Well, I took abit of a break from sculpting for a couple of months, and during that time I decided it was time for a few improvements on my technique. I'd got stuck in a rut and had frankly gotten abit lazy, so now I'm making a concious effort to slow down a little and take abit more time over each piece. I have also started using handmade inset eyes instead of sculpting them into the face (thanks to Deb Wood and her brilliant tutorial) and also (thanks to the amazing Renata Jansen's tutorial) started using wire armature in hands and fingers which have improved them no end.
Anyway... to see the first piece this year that I've been working on, click on the photo below to see more of her work in progress pictures. She is almost finished, I just need to do a little work on the base. I know, I know, it;s been ages again since I updated anything... but, I'm back, and I'm really pleased to announce that I have been nominated for 3 Internation Art Doll Registry end of year awards!
1. Best in Shows for 2011 - Novice Category (for the Shamen) 2. Doll of the Year (Caterina the Peacock Masquerade) 3. Rising Star Award Voting hasn't taken place as yet so keep your fingers crossed for me (not really expecting to win any of them, some of the other nominations are outstanding, but I feel really honoured to have been nominated) |
